Description: “The African Queen,” released in 1952, is available for download in English at 720p and 1080p resolutions. The story follows Samuel Sayer and his sister Rose, British Methodist missionaries living in Kungdu, German East Africa, during the early days of World War I in August 1914. Their supplies are delivered by a small steam launch called the African Queen, operated by Charlie Allnut, a rugged Canadian mechanic whose brash behavior they reluctantly endure.

When Charlie informs the Sayers of the war between Germany and Britain, they decide to stay in Kungdu, only to witness German colonial troops burn the village and force the villagers into service. After Samuel protests, he is struck by an officer, falls into a feverish delirium, and dies shortly afterward. Charlie, having discovered his mine destroyed by the Germans and being pursued for his supplies, returns to help Rose bury her brother. Together, they set off in the African Queen.

While planning their escape, Charlie mentions that the British are unable to attack the Germans due to the presence of a large gunboat, the Königin Luise, patrolling a nearby lake. Rose proposes converting the African Queen into a torpedo boat to sink the German ship, but Charlie warns that navigating the treacherous Ulanga River would be suicidal. Despite the dangers, Rose persuades him to proceed with the plan. Later, Charlie, intoxicated, insults Rose and her idea, prompting her to retaliate by discarding his gin supply into the river.”
