Description: The Admiral: Roaring Currents (2014) is a film centered on the historic Battle of Myeongnyang in 1597, one of the most celebrated naval victories led by the legendary Joseon Admiral Yi Sun-sin. With only 12 ships under his command, Yi Sun-sin achieved a heroic triumph against a massive Japanese fleet of 333 vessels.
At the start of the battle, the Japanese invaders, led by Tōdō Takatora, were confident in their plan to capture King Seonjo in Hansong. However, their confidence was tempered by the news that Yi Sun-sin had been reinstated as commander of the Korean navy, despite its reduced strength following the disaster at Chilcheollyang. To secure their mission, Toyotomi Hideyoshi sent Kurushima Michifusa, a skilled yet controversial naval leader, to assist the Japanese forces.
Meanwhile, Yi Sun-sin struggled to maintain morale among his officers and troops, who were overwhelmed by the sheer size of the enemy fleet. With only one turtle ship remaining, many believed the battle was already lost. Despite the grim circumstances, Yi Sun-sin remained resolute, determined to find a way to overcome the odds and lead his men to victory.
