Description: The Adjustment Bureau, released in 2011, follows the story of Brooklyn Congressman David Norris, who loses his bid for the United States Senate in 2006. While preparing his concession speech, he meets Elise Sellas, and the two share a spontaneous and passionate kiss. Inspired by their encounter, David delivers an honest and heartfelt speech that wins over his audience and boosts his political prospects for the next campaign.
A month later, David is setting out for a new job when a mysterious figure named Harry Mitchell is tasked with spilling coffee on him to delay his morning routine. However, Harry fails, and David boards his bus as planned, where he coincidentally meets Elise again and secures her phone number. Later, David arrives at work to find everyone frozen in time, being examined by unfamiliar individuals. He is captured and taken to a warehouse, where Richardson reveals the existence of the Adjustment Bureau. This secretive organization ensures that people’s lives follow a predetermined “Plan” dictated by “the Chairman.” David is warned never to disclose the Bureau’s existence or pursue Elise again, or he will face a “reset” of his memory and personality.
Three years later, David spots Elise from a bus window and rediscovers her, learning that she is a dancer with the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet. Despite the Bureau’s relentless efforts to keep them apart by manipulating their schedules and surroundings, David fights to defy their control and reunite with Elise. Along the way, he discovers that ordinary doorways can serve as portals to transport him instantly across the city, aiding his quest to overcome the Bureau’s interference.
