Description: The 8th Night is a 2021 South Korean mystery-thriller film directed by Kim Tae-hyung. The story revolves around a former exorcist who confronts a demon that has been unleashed. The narrative blurs the line between reality and illusion as a battle begins to prevent the demon’s resurrection. Set two and a half millennia ago, two malevolent entities that once terrorized humanity were sealed in two caskets. To regain their forms, they must possess seven vulnerable human hosts. Centuries later, Monk Ha-jung, the guardian of one of the caskets, discovers one of the beings has awakened. He enlists Monk Chung-seok to seek out Park Jin-soo, a man destined to halt these entities. Together, Jin-soo and Chung-seok embark on a mission to stop the being from wreaking havoc on Earth.
The film, originally set to release in 2020 but delayed due to COVID-19, premiered on Netflix on July 2, 2021. It features a star-studded cast including Lee Sung-min, Park Hae-joon, Kim Yoo-jung, and Nam Da-reum. Filming took place in various locations, including Suwon, Incheon, Paju, Daejeon, Daegu, Yeongyang-gun, and Kazakhstan, and began on May 19, 2019, concluding on September 26, 2019. The 8th Night is a gripping tale of exorcism, destiny, and the fight against ancient evil.
