Description: “That’s My Boy,” released in 2012, is a comedy film that follows the story of Donny Berger, an alcoholic and broke slacker who owes $43,000 in back taxes to the IRS. To avoid jail time, he places a $20 bet on an unlikely contender in the Boston Marathon but decides to create a backup plan in case the bet fails. Donny has been estranged from his 28-year-old son, Todd Peterson, who was conceived during Donny’s middle school years with his teacher, Mary McGarricle. The scandal of their relationship made Donny infamous and led to Mary’s 30-year prison sentence for statutory rape. To distance himself from the past, Todd changed his name from Han Solo Berger and claims his parents died in an explosion.
Todd, now a successful businessman, is about to marry his fiancée, Jamie, at his boss’s Cape Cod house. Meanwhile, Donny is offered $50,000 by a TV producer to arrange a reunion between Todd and Mary. Discovering Todd’s wedding plans, Donny shows up uninvited, causing tension. Todd pretends Donny is an old friend, but Donny’s presence frustrates him. After Donny influences the wedding rehearsal and bachelor party arrangements, Todd reluctantly agrees to meet his mother in prison. However, when a TV crew interrupts their emotional reunion, Todd leaves in anger.
Later, Donny learns that Jamie is having affairs with Todd’s boss, Steve, and her brother, Chad. Jamie bribes Donny to keep quiet, but he eventually exposes the truth during the wedding, revealing his relationship to Todd and Jamie’s infidelity and incestuous behavior.
