**Plot Summary:**
Ezhil, a civil engineer, shares an uncanny resemblance with Kavin, a deceitful gambler who cons people alongside his partner Murali. Ezhil is in love with Deepika, while Kavin is adored by Ananthi, who remains unaware of his true nature. One day, Kavin manipulates Ananthi to help Murali repay his debt. Although Ananthi discovers the truth, she still assists him. Later, both Kavin and Ezhil find themselves in a heated situation after a party. That same night, one of them breaks into a house and fatally stabs the owner, Akash.
The next day, Kavin clears Suruli’s debt, earning Ananthi’s trust by returning her money and revealing the truth. Meanwhile, the murder investigation leads to a selfie taken by a nearby couple, which captures either Ezhil or Kavin in the background. Unaware of each other’s existence, both men are brought in for questioning. Inspector Gopalakrishnan, who harbors a grudge against Ezhil, subjects him to torture. Ezhil explains that his car broke down and a taxi driver assisted him, while Kavin uses legal strategies to evade mistreatment.
Sub-inspector Malarvizhi is tasked with solving the case. She questions Akash’s friend and shows him the photo, but he denies recognizing the suspect. She also interrogates Suruli, instructing him not to leave the city, though he secretly flees. Malarvizhi uncovers the past conflict between Ezhil and Gopalakrishnan, where Ezhil helped the inspector’s daughter elope against her father’s wishes. Forensic analysis reveals a hair sample from the crime scene that doesn’t match anyone in Akash’s household.
At the police station, Ezhil attempts to escape but is confronted by Kavin. Their violent altercation causes chaos, injuring bystanders and damaging the station.
