Description: Teen Wolf: The Movie is a 2023 American supernatural thriller teen drama film directed by Russell Mulcahy and written by Jeff Davis. Serving as a continuation of the popular MTV series Teen Wolf, the movie sees most of the original cast members reprising their roles, including Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed, Tyler Hoechlin, Holland Roden, Colton Haynes, Shelley Hennig, Dylan Sprayberry, Linden Ashby, Melissa Ponzio, and JR Bourne. The story follows werewolf Scott McCall (Posey) as he defends his California town from a new supernatural threat. The film premiered on Paramount+ on January 26, 2023.
In September 2021, Paramount+ announced the production of a reunion film for the 2011 Teen Wolf series, with Jeff Davis returning as the screenwriter and executive producer. While most of the original cast members returned, some, such as Dylan O’Brien, Arden Cho, and Cody Christian, declined to participate. Russell Mulcahy, who directed episodes of the original series, helmed the film. Principal photography began on March 21, 2022, and concluded on May 17 of the same year.
Teen Wolf first debuted in 2011, riding the wave of the teen fantasy craze popularized by films like Twilight (2008) and shows like The Vampire Diaries (2009). The series, with its mix of supernatural elements, teenage drama, and romance, became a massive success for MTV, running for six seasons until its conclusion in 2017. Although the genre has evolved since then, the enduring appeal of supernatural stories paved the way for the film’s revival. Alongside Teen Wolf: The Movie, Paramount+ also released Wolf Pack, a new series with thematic ties to the original Teen Wolf universe. Both projects, created by Jeff Davis, premiered on January 26, 2023, bringing supernatural thrills to a new generation of viewers.
