Description: Tarak, released in 2017, is a Hindi film that tells a heartfelt story of love, sacrifice, and family. The movie follows Tarak (Darshan), who meets Meera (Shanvi Srivastava), and they develop feelings for each other. However, Meera challenges Tarak to live without her for two months, keeping their relationship a secret. If he stays faithful during this time, she will trust him completely.
Tarak returns to India to visit his ailing grandfather (Devaraj), who arranges his marriage with Sneha (Shruti Hariharan), a woman who lives with their family. Reluctantly, Tarak agrees to the marriage due to his grandfather’s declining health. He confides in Sneha about Meera, who understands and supports his decision. Later, Tarak and Sneha move to Meera’s house, where Tarak discovers that Meera is seriously ill. She had challenged him to prove his love so he wouldn’t find out about her condition. Meera also arranges her father’s remarriage to ensure he won’t be lonely after her passing.
Heartbroken, Tarak and Sneha watch Meera pass away in Tarak’s arms. They return to India, and Tarak decides he cannot marry Sneha. However, everyone devises a plan where Tarak pretends to tie the sacred Mangalsutra during the wedding, while Sneha’s mother actually performs the ritual. As Tarak remembers Meera’s words, “Others’ happiness is more important than ours,” he feels a tear from Sneha’s mother fall on his hand. To everyone’s surprise, Tarak takes it upon himself to tie the knot. The wedding concludes with joy and celebration.
The film ends with Tarak, Sneha, and their daughter Meera visiting Meera’s burial site. They make a video call to their family, and Tarak’s grandfather, inspired by the desire to see his great-granddaughter, remains alive. The story beautifully emphasizes themes of selflessness, love, and the importance of family.
