**Storyline:**
Manoj Kumar Sharma, known as Manu (played by Madhavan), is an NRI doctor residing in London. He returns to India with the intention of finding an Indian bride and settling down. His parents have already selected a few potential matches, and along with his friend Pappi (Deepak Dobriyal), they travel to Kanpur to meet Tanuja Trivedi, also known as Tanu (Kangana Ranaut). Upon arrival, Manu is unexpectedly confronted by a group of thugs who assault him at the railway station. However, Pappi advises Manu to let it go.
At Tanu’s house, the families discover they share a strong connection and agree to proceed with the marriage if Manu approves of Tanu. A slight complication arises when Tanu’s mother explains that Tanu is unwell and unable to leave her bed. She encourages Manu to meet Tanu in her room. Initially, Manu mistakes Tanu’s unresponsiveness for shyness but soon realizes she is deeply asleep. Captivated by her beauty, Manu declares his desire to marry her.
Before finalizing the engagement, the families decide to embark on a pilgrimage to seek divine blessings. During the journey, Tanu confides in Manu, revealing that she deliberately took sleeping pills to avoid meeting him. She bluntly informs him that she is in love with someone else and even has her lover’s name tattooed on her chest. She also discloses that the thugs who attacked Manu were sent by her boyfriend. Tanu insists that Manu reject her.
Despite his deep affection for Tanu, Manu respects her wishes and takes the blame for the decision, sparing Tanu’s reputation. He informs his father to convey to Tanu’s family that he has chosen not to proceed with the marriage.
