Description: In West River, North Carolina, Ricky Bobby, portrayed by Will Ferrell, is a man driven by the need for speed. His obsession with speed began at birth, as he was delivered in the backseat of a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle on country roads. His father, Reese, missed the hospital turnoff because he was driving too fast. Ricky grows up barely knowing Reese, only seeing him once in ten years when he was expelled from Ricky’s school for inappropriate behavior during career day. Before leaving, Reese imparts a life lesson to Ricky: “If you ain’t first, you’re last.” This motto becomes Ricky’s guiding principle into adulthood.
Ricky starts his career on the pit crew of Dennit Racing driver Terry Cheveaux for Laughing Clown Malt Liquor. At the Talladega Superspeedway, during a caution flag, Ricky steps in as a replacement driver when Terry takes a break. Ricky finishes third in the race and continues to race in NASCAR, achieving fame and fortune with sponsors like Wonder Bread and Powerade.
The owner of Dennit Racing, Larry Dennit Sr., introduces a second car driven by Ricky’s best friend, Cal Naughton Jr., sponsored by Old Spice. Ricky and Cal form a formidable team on the track. At their first race as teammates, Ricky meets his future wife, Carley, after she flashes her breasts.
Years later, Ricky lives in a grand mansion with Carley, her father Chip, and their two disrespectful, trash-talking sons, Walker and Texas Ranger.
