The story begins at a race track in New York City, where Radhika Banerjee Singh (Rani Mukerji) and her children, Champ (Ali Haji) and Princess (Angelina Idnani), cheer for RV (Saif Ali Khan), a popular racer. Princess narrates the story in flashback.
Rajveer Singh, a passionate and reckless young man, works in the pit crew at a racing track. His love for speed and racing drives him to dream big. After catching the attention of his manager Harry (Jaaved Jaffrey) by speeding in a taxi, he is recruited into Speeding Saddles, a struggling race team. Nicknamed “RV,” Rajveer wins his first race and soon becomes a famous and wealthy racer.
During this time, Rajveer meets Radhika Shekar Rai Banerjee, a talented pianist studying music at Columbia University. Despite their different backgrounds—Rajveer having dropped out of school after his parents’ death—the two fall in love. Radhika’s father, wealthy businessman Shubho Shekhar Rai Banerjee (Victor Banerjee), disapproves of their relationship, but Radhika chooses to marry Rajveer, leaving her studies behind. She adopts the name Shona and becomes a devoted wife and mother to their two children, Priya (Princess) and Ranveer (Champ).
Years later, Rajveer’s career reaches its peak as he becomes the number one race car driver in America. However, tragedy strikes during a race when his jealous rival, Rusty Finkelstein, crashes into his car, leaving Rajveer severely injured. After a long recovery, Rajveer returns to racing but struggles with PTSD from the accident, causing him to perform poorly. Frustrated, his team manager, Billy Bhatia (Bharat Dabholkar), fires him and replaces him with Rusty.
The film explores Rajveer’s journey as he battles his fears and attempts to reclaim his place in the racing world while striving to provide for his family.
