**Storyline:**
Sydney White, portrayed by Amanda Bynes, is a straightforward, tomboyish, and laid-back young woman raised by her plumber father, Paul White, played by John Schneider. Her mother, a former member of the prestigious Kappa Sorority, passed away when Sydney was young. Eager to follow in her mother’s footsteps, Sydney enrolls at SAU and decides to pledge to the same sorority.
Upon arriving at college, she befriends Demetria Rosemead Hotchkiss, also known as Dinky, who is also pledging to join the Kappa Sorority. On her way to the dorm, Sydney encounters Tyler Prince, the charming president of a popular fraternity, who happens to be the on-and-off boyfriend of Rachel Witchburn, the manipulative and disliked head of the student council and Kappa Sorority. Rachel, obsessed with the university’s “hottest” rankings, is instantly threatened by Sydney when Tyler shows interest in her. Rachel deems Sydney unworthy of the sorority, despite her legacy status.
Sydney and Dinky secure spots in the sorority due to their mothers’ past memberships, but they must endure the rigorous pledging process. Sydney’s unique, tomboyish nature helps her stand out and excel in the initiation tasks, inadvertently inspiring other pledges to challenge Rachel’s shallow teachings. As a result, Sydney’s popularity soars, fueling Rachel’s jealousy.
One of the sorority’s traditions requires the freshmen to find a date for a midnight event. Sydney chooses Lenny, a member of the “seven dorks,” a group of social outcasts living in a rundown house called the Vortex. Rachel instructs Sydney to abandon her date, leading to an awkward situation where Lenny ends up paying.
Throughout the story, Sydney’s authenticity and determination set her apart, making her a rising star on campus while clashing with Rachel’s domineering personality.
