Jack and Jennifer, a wealthy couple, are enjoying a yacht trip in the Caribbean during Christmas. Among their crew is Manuel, whose ex-girlfriend, Maria, curses him as he prepares to depart. Disturbed by the curse, Manuel struggles with his duties. After a confrontation with the captain, Manuel quits and carelessly throws a rag, which lands on a gas flame, igniting the yacht. The fire spreads uncontrollably, forcing everyone to abandon ship. A storm overturns their lifeboats, leaving them stranded and separated at sea.
Jennifer washes ashore on a deserted island and discovers the captain’s lifeless body. Manuel appears and helps her bury the captain. Together, they build a shelter and search for food. Two days later, Manuel finds Jack alive and reunites him with Jennifer. Initially grateful, Jack soon grows suspicious of Manuel’s intentions toward his wife, declaring him an enemy and vowing revenge once they escape. This creates tension, as Jennifer realizes they both depend on Manuel for survival.
Jack’s pride leads him to insist on providing for the group, but he fails. As their relationship deteriorates, Jack steals Manuel’s goggles to go fishing, escalating the conflict. Manuel threatens Jack, and Jennifer intervenes to calm the situation. Later, Manuel attempts to assault Jennifer, but she stops resisting, and the act becomes consensual. Afterwards, Jennifer is left remorseful despite the encounter.
