**Storyline:**
Brainiac crashes onto Earth and takes control of Lex Labs to gather Earth’s data and harness the power of its weapon systems. Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen are dispatched to one of Lex Luthor’s laboratories after Brainiac arrives via meteor. Luthor’s satellite fails to destroy the meteor, despite his attempts to prevent Earth from potential harm and boost his public image as a hero rivaling Superman. Superman arrives and discovers Brainiac extracting weaponry data from LexCorp’s systems, including the laser-equipped meteor shield that had earlier targeted Brainiac. After a fierce battle, Superman seemingly destroys Brainiac using his ice breath.
Observing the incident, Luthor realizes his satellite’s potential as a weapon against Superman. He finds Brainiac’s intact brain chip, reactivates it at LexCorp, and proposes a deal: Brainiac will use LexCorp’s technology and Kryptonite to defeat Superman. Luthor plans to step in afterward, appearing as Earth’s savior by driving Brainiac away. This would allow Luthor to conquer other planets while leaving Earth under his control. Brainiac agrees and begins enhancing himself.
Meanwhile, Clark Kent considers revealing his secret identity to Lois. The opportunity arises when Perry White assigns them to review a restaurant in Metropolis due to staff shortages. However, Brainiac returns with upgrades, including the ability to track Superman using his DNA. In their next confrontation, Superman is severely weakened by Brainiac’s Kryptonite-powered attacks, and Lois is critically injured. Her blood is poisoned by a Kryptonite-based metallic toxin, which is destroying her blood cells and could prove fatal if not treated.
