Description: In the 2006 film *Superman Returns*, the iconic hero Superman has been absent for five years after embarking on a journey to find traces of his home planet, Krypton. Upon his return to Earth, he resumes his life as Clark Kent at the Daily Planet in Metropolis. However, much has changed during his absence. Lois Lane, now engaged to Richard White and a mother to a young son named Jason, has won a Pulitzer Prize for her article titled “Why the World Doesn’t Need Superman.” Meanwhile, Superman’s archenemy, Lex Luthor, has been released from prison and devises a sinister plan.
Luthor travels to Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, stealing Kryptonian crystals to conduct an experiment that triggers a massive blackout on the East Coast. During a space shuttle launch test, Lois is aboard the aircraft when the blackout causes a crisis. Superman intervenes, saving the plane from crashing into a baseball stadium.
As Superman struggles to adjust to the new dynamics in Lois’s life, Luthor reveals his ultimate plan: using the stolen Kryptonite and Kryptonian crystals to create a new landmass in the Atlantic Ocean. This catastrophic event would cause global flooding, threatening billions of lives. When Lois and Jason are captured by Luthor on his yacht, he questions Jason’s true parentage after noticing the boy’s reaction to Kryptonite. Lois firmly states that Richard is the father, leaving viewers to wonder about the boy’s origins.
The film explores themes of heroism, identity, and the challenges of reintegration as Superman battles to save the world while grappling with personal emotions.
