**Storyline:**
On the planet Krypton, Jor-El, a member of the Kryptonian high council, predicts the planet’s destruction as its red supergiant sun is set to explode. Despite his warnings, the council dismisses his claims. To save his infant son, Kal-El, Jor-El sends him to Earth in a spaceship, where his dense molecular structure will grant him superhuman abilities. Krypton’s sun eventually explodes, destroying the planet.
The spaceship lands near Smallville, Kansas, where Kal-El, now three years old, is discovered by Jonathan and Martha Kent. They are amazed when he lifts their truck and decide to raise him as their own, naming him Clark after Martha’s maiden name. Jonathan tells Clark that his powers must serve a greater purpose.
Years later, after Jonathan’s death from a heart attack, 18-year-old Clark hears a psychic call and finds a glowing green crystal in the remains of his spacecraft. Guided by the crystal, he travels to the Arctic, where a Fortress of Solitude, resembling Kryptonian architecture, emerges from the ice. Inside, a hologram of Jor-El reveals Clark’s origins and trains him for twelve years, preparing him to embrace his destiny.
Clark leaves the fortress wearing a blue and red suit with a red cape, bearing the House of El family crest. Moving to Metropolis, he becomes a reporter at the Daily Planet, where he meets coworker Lois Lane and develops a romantic interest in her.
When Lois is involved in a helicopter accident, Clark publicly uses his powers for the first time to save her, astonishing onlookers. He goes on to thwart a jewel thief, capture fleeing robbers, rescue a cat from a tree, and save Air Force One after a lightning strike. Instantly becoming a celebrity, Clark visits Lois at her apartment, taking her on a flight and allowing her to interview him for her article, where she names him “Superman.”
