In one narrative, Jyothi and her son Rasukutty await the return of Manickam, who left them seven years ago. To their surprise, Manickam returns as Shilpa, a trans woman. Rasukutty introduces Shilpa to his friends, but they face prejudice from a bigoted police officer named Berlin, who humiliates Shilpa. Heartbroken, Shilpa plans to return to Mumbai but loses Rasukutty on the way. Seeking help, she encounters Berlin again, who assaults her. Shilpa curses him in the traditional style of a hijra and escapes. Eventually, Rasukutty confronts Shilpa about her plans to leave, leading to an emotional realization that Jyothi and Rasukutty accept her as she is.
Another story follows five young men—Gaaji, Soori, Mohan, Vasanth, and Thuyavan—who skip school to watch a porn movie at Thuyavan’s house. To their shock, they discover that the star is Soori’s mother, Leela. Soori breaks the TV in anger and runs away. Fearing his father’s wrath, Thuyavan enlists Gaaji and Vasanth to get money for a new TV. Their attempts fail until they meet a girl with magical powers who reveals she is an alien. She duplicates Gaaji for companionship and provides them with money for a new TV. After discarding the broken TV, they head to a movie theater to watch a porn film.
These narratives blend themes of acceptance, identity, and human connection, making “Super Deluxe” a thought-provoking cinematic experience.
