Description: Sultan Ali Khan, a middle-aged Jat pehlwani wrestler and former champion, lives a solitary life in a small town in Haryana. Aakash Oberoi, the founder of a private mixed martial arts league supported by Mr. Patel, is urged by his father to bring Sultan on board to boost the league’s popularity. After visiting Haryana, Aakash offers Sultan a chance to join, but Sultan declines, stating he has retired from wrestling. Curious about the reason behind Sultan’s retirement, Aakash speaks to Sultan’s friend Govind, who shares Sultan’s backstory.
In 2008, Sultan fell in love at first sight with Aarfa Hussain, a state-level wrestler and daughter of a local wrestling coach. Initially indifferent, Aarfa eventually becomes his friend. When Sultan claims they are committed, she mocks him, saying she would only marry a skilled wrestler. Determined to earn her respect, Sultan trains rigorously and wins a state-level wrestling tournament, winning both the title and Aarfa’s heart. They marry and become renowned wrestlers, representing India in international competitions.
When both are selected for the Olympic contingent, Aarfa discovers she is pregnant and sacrifices her dream of winning an Olympic gold medal for India. Sultan fulfills that dream instead, but his success leads to arrogance, and he slaps a reporter at an event. Later, he leaves Aarfa near her due date to compete in Turkey, where he wins gold. Upon returning, he learns their newborn son has died due to severe anemia. The baby had a rare O- blood type, matching Sultan’s, and his absence as a potential donor proved fatal. Devastated, Aarfa leaves Sultan and moves in with her father.
Heartbroken over losing his wife and child, Sultan raises funds to establish a blood bank in his son’s memory. In the present, Aakash persuades Sultan to join the tournament by promising the prize money will help fulfill his dream of opening the blood bank. Sultan agrees and travels to Delhi for training, where he meets MMA coach Fateh Singh. Initially reluctant, Fateh agrees to train Sultan after witnessing his determination. After two months of intense preparation, Sultan regains his physical form and masters freestyle wrestling.
