Description: Tom Ludlow, an alcoholic undercover detective with the LAPD, encounters Korean gangsters he suspects of kidnapping two teenage girls. During their meeting, he provokes them into attacking him and stealing his car. However, Ludlow had planted a tracking device earlier, allowing him to locate the gang’s hideout via GPS. Upon arrival, he storms in, eliminates the gangsters, and manipulates the scene to make the shootings appear justified. He then rescues the girls hidden in a closet.
While his unit celebrates his actions, Ludlow is confronted by his former partner, Detective Terrence Washington, who has grown disillusioned with police corruption and has reported issues to Captain James Biggs of Internal Affairs. Suspecting Washington of betraying him, Ludlow confronts him at a convenience store. Tragically, Washington is killed by two gangsters during a staged robbery. Surveillance footage captures Ludlow accidentally shooting Washington while trying to defend him.
Evidence at the scene points to two criminals, Fremont and Coates, along with a significant amount of cash in Washington’s possession. This leads investigators to conclude that Washington was involved in corruption, allegedly stealing drugs from the evidence room and selling them to Fremont and Coates. Ludlow joins forces with Detective Paul Diskant to investigate further. Their investigation leads them to a house in the hills, where they uncover the bodies of Fremont and Coates buried in a shallow grave, revealing they were killed long before Washington’s death.
