**Plot Summary:**
Brennan Huff and Dale Doback are two 40-year-old immature adults still living with their parents. Brennan resides with his divorced mother, Nancy, while Dale lives with his widowed father, Robert. When Robert and Nancy meet, fall in love, and marry, Brennan and Dale are forced to live together as stepbrothers. Their conflicting lifestyles lead to immediate tension. A heated argument over Dale’s drum set escalates into a physical fight, resulting in both being grounded and told to find jobs within a month or face eviction.
The situation worsens when Brennan’s younger, more successful brother, Derek, visits and mocks their lack of ambition. Dale reacts by punching Derek, earning Brennan’s admiration and sparking a secret affair between Dale and Derek’s wife, Alice. Over time, Brennan and Dale discover shared interests and form a strong bond.
Robert arranges job interviews for them, but their efforts fail miserably. On their way home, they are bullied by schoolchildren and humiliated. Meanwhile, Robert and Nancy reveal plans to sell the house, retire, and travel the world on a sailboat, leaving Brennan and Dale to find alternative living arrangements. Brennan develops a crush on his therapist, Denise.
In a last-ditch effort to succeed, Brennan and Dale start an entertainment company called “Prestige Worldwide.” At Derek’s birthday party, they present their first music video, “Boats ‘N Hoes,” filmed on Robert’s sailboat. However, the video ends in disaster, shattering Robert and Nancy’s sailing dreams.
