**Storyline:**
One night, a thief named Deshaun Stagg is shot and killed while fleeing through Georgetown, Washington, D.C. A pizza deliveryman witnesses the crime but is also shot and left in a coma. The next morning, a young woman is killed by a Washington Metro train in an incident initially believed to be a suicide.
Congressman Stephen Collins, a military veteran leading an investigation into PointCorp, a controversial private defense contractor, is devastated to learn the deceased woman was Sonia Baker, a key researcher on his staff. Collins confides in his old college friend, investigative reporter Cal McAffrey, revealing he had been having an affair with Sonia. He finds it hard to believe she took her own life, especially after receiving a cheerful video message from her on the morning of her death.
Meanwhile, political reporter Della Frye discovers Sonia’s death occurred in one of the few blind spots of the Metro’s CCTV system. Cal uncovers a connection between the shootings and Sonia’s death. Later, a homeless girl named Mandi sells Cal photographs for $500, which her friend Deshaun had taken from the killer’s briefcase. The photos, along with a gun and unusual handmade bullets, show Sonia speaking with a well-dressed man.
Della visits the hospital where the pizza deliveryman is recovering but witnesses him being shot by a sniper before she can speak with him. Reviewing Metro CCTV footage, Della notices a man who appears to be the same person she saw at the hospital just before the deliveryman’s murder.
