Description: In 1975, two Bay City Police detectives, the bold David Starsky, known for his reckless pursuit of minor offenders and his love for his Ford Torino, and the laid-back Ken “Hutch” Hutchinson, who often collaborates with criminals to investigate their activities, are paired together as punishment for their recent misadventures. Meanwhile, Reese Feldman, a Jewish-American drug lord, and his associate Kevin Jutsum develop a new form of cocaine that’s undetectable by scent or taste. After one of Feldman’s dealers fails a mission, Feldman eliminates him.
Days later, the dealer’s body is discovered on the shore, and Starsky and Hutch are assigned to the case. A clue leads them to Feldman, who denies any involvement, though his wife mentions the dealer had been dating a cheerleader. The detectives meet cheerleaders Stacey and Holly, who provide them with a jacket from another cheerleader, Heather. Their informant, Huggy Bear, directs them to Big Earl’s motorcycle bar. Disguised as characters from *Easy Rider*, Starsky and Hutch learn that Big Earl is in jail. They question him about his connections to Feldman’s illegal activities, but Big Earl demands humiliating acts in exchange for information and a packet of what they assume is cocaine. Captain Doby, however, dismisses the packet as artificial sweetener and removes them from the case.
Later, Starsky and Hutch invite Stacey and Holly to Starsky’s place, where Starsky unknowingly consumes the “sweetener,” which turns out to be Feldman’s altered cocaine. At a disco, Starsky, affected by the drug, loses a dance-off, and Hutch takes him home. Meanwhile, Starsky and Hutch are attacked by an Asian dealer and his knife-wielding son, who work for Feldman. After interrogating them, the detectives deduce that Feldman stores his drugs in his garage.
