Description: In 2259, Captain James T. Kirk is stripped of his command of the starship USS Enterprise for breaking the Prime Directive. He exposed the ship to a primitive civilization on the planet Nibiru to save them, along with Spock, from a catastrophic volcanic eruption. Admiral Christopher Pike reassumes command, while Kirk is demoted to first officer, and Spock is transferred to another vessel.
Shortly after, Starfleet officer Thomas Harewood, following orders from Commander John Harrison, bombs a Section 31 facility in London. During an emergency meeting to address the attack, Harrison ambushes and kills Pike and several senior officers before escaping to Kronos, the homeworld of the hostile Klingons.
Admiral Alexander Marcus reinstates Kirk and Spock to the Enterprise with a mission to eliminate Harrison using advanced, untested long-range stealth torpedoes. Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott resigns in protest after his objections to the torpedoes are ignored. Kirk appoints Pavel Chekov to replace him.
While en route to Kronos, the Enterprise’s warp drive malfunctions. Kirk leads a team, including Spock and Uhura, to the planet, where they encounter Klingon patrols. Harrison intervenes, killing the Klingons, and surrenders upon learning the number of torpedoes on board the Enterprise.
Dr. Leonard McCoy and Carol Marcus, Admiral Marcus’s daughter, open one of the torpedoes at Harrison’s request, discovering cryonically frozen humans inside. Harrison, later revealed to be Khan Noonien Singh, a genetically enhanced superhuman, explains that Admiral Marcus awakened him from centuries of sleep and forced him to develop advanced weapons. Khan also reveals that Marcus sabotaged the Enterprise’s warp drive, intending for the Klingons to destroy the ship and provoke a war.
Khan provides Kirk with coordinates leading to a covert Starfleet facility, which Kirk asks Scott to investigate. This discovery uncovers further secrets behind Marcus’s plans and Khan’s true motives.
