Description: “The Story of Sreekaram (2021) Film in Telugu – Available in 720p and 480p
The plot revolves around a young, talented, and heroic urban man who becomes a savior for a village. This is a familiar narrative in Tollywood, and Sreekaram follows a similar concept. The protagonist, with his modern perspective, aims to transform a traditional profession. But does this premise make the story compelling enough?
Karthik, a dedicated software engineer, excels in his career. During his free time, he motivates his colleagues, advises his boss, and embodies the ideal gentlemanly behavior expected in such films. Despite being awarded the best employee of the year, he sacrifices a golden opportunity after witnessing farmers struggling to survive on daily wages. While this decision seems justified, the execution lacks depth. He returns to his village, much to the dismay of his father, Keshavulu (played by Rao Ramesh), to try and make a difference. Priyanka Mohan’s character, like many other poorly written female roles in Tollywood, is limited to admiring him or dancing in a few scenes.
The second half of the film is where the emotional core lies. It’s challenging to make agriculture profitable in regions like Rayalaseema, but Karthik devises a plan. Director Kishore Reddy introduces an interesting concept of modern joint farming, yet he overlooks some fundamental realities. Advanced farming techniques may sound promising, but the ground realities are far more complex. While the film deserves credit for highlighting farmers’ struggles, it misses the opportunity to address critical issues like farmer subsidies and minimum support prices. By the end, many real-world problems remain unaddressed, and key institutions are left unquestioned.
Sreekaram is a good film with a powerful climax, but it falls short of greatness. Burra Sai Madhav’s writing shines in emotional scenes, bringing life to the narrative. Mickey J Meyer’s music adds a decent touch to the film. While the movie has its moments, it could have been more impactful with a deeper exploration of the issues it introduces.”
