Squad is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action film written, directed, and produced by Nilesh Sahay. The film is co-produced by Brajesh Sahaya, Mohan Gopinath, and Zee Cinema. The screenplay is a collaboration between Shobha Nihalani and Nilesh Sahay. The movie features Rinzing Denzongpa, Pooja Batra, and Malvika Raaj in lead roles. Squad is set to premiere on ZEE5 on November 12, 2021. Notably, it is the first Indian film to be shot entirely in Belarus, with principal photography beginning on September 23, 2019, at the Belarusfilm studios in Minsk.
The story revolves around a battle involving Special Forces, driven by an emotional bond between Bhim (Rinzing Denzongpa), a MARCOS commando turned deserter, and Mimi (Dishita Jain), a 6-year-old orphan who knows nothing about her family or past. Their shared loneliness forms the heart of the narrative.
The project was announced in November 2018, with Rinzing Denzongpa, son of veteran actor Danny Denzongpa, cast as the lead. Initially, Jyoti Kapur Das was set to direct, but Nilesh Sahay later took over the role. Malvika Raaj, known for portraying young “Poo” in *Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham*, joined the film in February 2019 as the female lead. To ensure top-notch action sequences, producer Nilesh Sahay enlisted renowned stunt coordinator Keir Beck and fight choreographer Maciej Kwiatkowski.
Additional cast members include Dishita Jain, Amit Gaur, Tanisha Dhillon, Ashish Tyagi, and Abdullah Osman. Although filming was initially planned for April 2019, delays pushed production to September 2019. After the muhurat shot on September 23, filming continued for nearly a month.
