Description: Spies in Disguise is a 2019 animated movie that tells the story of Lance Sterling, a confident secret agent working for H.T.U.V. (Honor, Trust, Unity, and Valor). He is assigned to retrieve an attack drone from Japanese arms dealer Katsu Kimura in Japan. When Killian, a cybernetically enhanced terrorist, arrives as the buyer, Sterling disobeys orders and intervenes, defeating Kimura and his gang. He escapes with a briefcase that he believes contains the drone.
Upon returning to H.T.U.V. headquarters, Sterling confronts Walter Beckett, a socially awkward MIT graduate and young scientist, for equipping his suit with nonlethal weapons. Walter tries to explain his belief in peaceful solutions, but Sterling dismisses him before Walter can introduce his latest invention, “biodynamic concealment.”
Sterling soon discovers the briefcase is empty and is accused of treason by Marcy Kappel, an internal affairs agent, who presents footage of Sterling (actually Killian in disguise) leaving with the drone. Forced to flee, Sterling seeks Walter’s help to disappear. Meanwhile, Killian infiltrates the H.T.U.V. weapons facility.
While searching Walter’s home for his invention, Sterling accidentally ingests a concoction and transforms into a pigeon through a process called “chromothripsis.” Before Walter can create an antidote, they are pursued by Marcy and H.T.U.V. agents, but they manage to escape in Sterling’s spy car.
The duo tracks Kimura to a resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where they learn Killian is in Venice, Italy. They narrowly evade capture by the H.T.U.V. again and head to Venice. Along the way, Walter attempts to make the antidote but fails. In Venice, Walter faces the H.T.U.V., who remain unaware of Sterling’s condition.
The movie combines action, humor, and a unique twist on spy adventures, emphasizing teamwork and nonviolent solutions.
