Description: Peter Parker struggles to balance his civilian life with his duties as Spider-Man in the 2004 film “Spider-Man 2.” He faces challenges in his career, finances, and academics while dealing with strained relationships with his love interest, Mary Jane Watson, and his best friend, Harry Osborn. Additionally, his Aunt May is at risk of eviction. Peter also experiences temporary but recurring losses of his powers, often in critical moments.
Harry, now leading Oscorp’s genetic and scientific research division, sponsors a fusion power project led by nuclear scientist Otto Octavius, who becomes a mentor to Peter. During a public demonstration, the fusion reactor destabilizes, leading to a catastrophic accident. Octavius’ wife, Rosalie, is killed, and the robotic tentacle arms he wears fuse to his spine, becoming sentient due to the destruction of their inhibitor chip. Peter, as Spider-Man, shuts down the experiment, but Octavius escapes after the accident and becomes influenced by the arms’ artificial intelligence.
Octavius, now called Doctor Octopus, robs a bank to fund his experiments, taking Aunt May hostage in the process. Peter saves her, but Octavius escapes with the stolen money. Meanwhile, Mary Jane becomes engaged to astronaut John Jameson, the son of Daily Bugle editor J. Jonah Jameson. The film follows Peter’s journey as he navigates these challenges while facing the growing threat of Doctor Octopus.
