**Plot Summary:**
Elsa Casanova (Diane Kruger), a French journalist based in Kabul, writes a revealing article labeling warlord Zaief (Raz Degan) as “the butcher of Kabul.” Her informant, Maina (Morjana Alaoui), warns Elsa that Zaief is determined to seek revenge. Maina bids her farewell, convinced she will face an honor killing, and despite Elsa’s attempts to stop her, Maina departs. Elsa’s friend, Amen (Mehdi Nebbou), urges her to leave the country but assists her in trying to save Maina.
Zaief ambushes and captures both Elsa and Amen. Despite Amen’s advice for Elsa to remain fearless, she breaks down when their friend Salemani (Greg Fromentin) is brutally murdered in front of her. Zaief releases a video of Salemani’s death, which reaches the French government. In response, a small French Special Forces team is deployed to rescue Elsa.
The team discovers Zaief’s hideout in Pakistan, only to witness Maina’s execution. After rescuing Elsa and Amen, their wireless set is damaged during an escape, leaving them without communication. Stranded, they embark on a perilous journey through the Khyber Pass to reach their base in Afghanistan. Along the way, they face multiple confrontations with Zaief’s men.
While seeking shelter in a village, the team’s member Marius (Alain Alivon) is killed by a sniper, who is later neutralized by their marksman, Elias (Raphaël Personnaz). Zaief’s forces eventually arrive, resulting in the death of Amen and the injury of Victor. Forced to retreat into the mountains, the group continues their desperate fight for survival.
