Description: Captain Colter Stevens, a decorated soldier, wakes up in the body of a stranger and discovers he is part of a mission to identify the bomber of a commuter train in Chicago. He learns he is involved in a top-secret program called Source Code, which allows him to relive the final eight minutes of another person’s life. Colter repeatedly experiences the train incident, gathering new clues each time to solve the mystery.
After multiple attempts, he realizes the explosion was just the first in a series of planned attacks. Despite his efforts, he cannot prevent the train explosion and often dies in the process. A malfunction in the capsule’s power supply causes further complications. Dr. Rutledge, the program’s lead, explains that Source Code reconstructs the past using the memories of deceased passengers. Colter’s mission is solely to find the bomber and prevent future attacks.
Colter also learns he was reported dead two months ago and is now kept alive on life support, with his consciousness connected to neural sensors. Feeling trapped, he requests to be terminated after completing the mission, which Rutledge agrees to.
After numerous cycles, Colter identifies the bomber as Derek Frost, but he is still unable to stop the train explosion. His journey becomes a race against time to save countless lives while grappling with his own fate.
