Description: “Son of Sardaar,” released in 2012, is a Bollywood film centered around the intense rivalry between the Sandhu and Randhawa families. The story begins when Jaswinder “Jassi” Singh Randhawa’s father and Balwinder “Billu” Singh Sandhu’s uncle kill each other during a violent confrontation. This tragic incident occurs during Billu’s wedding to Parmeet “Pammi” Kaur, leading Billu to vow that he will not marry until he avenges his uncle’s death by killing Randhawa’s son, Jassi. Fearing for his safety, Jassi’s mother flees their village with him, eventually settling in London.
Twenty-five years later, Jassi, now a grown man and a struggling immigrant in London, learns that he has inherited land in Phagwara, Punjab. Despite being warned about the ongoing family feud, Jassi believes the conflict has been forgotten and travels to India. On his journey, he meets Sukhmeet “Sukh” Kaur Sandhu on a train from New Delhi to Phagwara. Sukh, Billu’s sister, has just completed her studies in Delhi. During their journey, Jassi develops feelings for her.
Upon arriving in Phagwara, Jassi is greeted by Tony, one of Billu’s younger brothers, who offers him a ride to a Gurdwara near his inherited land. Tony soon discovers Jassi’s true identity as Randhawa’s son and attempts to kill him but fails. Billu, unaware of Jassi’s identity, invites him to his home. However, when Tony reveals the truth, Billu plans to execute Jassi once he leaves the Sandhu household.
The film explores love, rivalry, and the complexities of family conflict as Jassi navigates the challenges of his heritage while trying to protect his newfound relationship with Sukh.”
