**Plot Summary:**
On a stormy night, Rick Santoro, a corrupt but charismatic Atlantic City detective, attends a boxing match at the Atlantic City Arena organized by Gilbert Powell. The fight features heavyweight champion Lincoln Tyler against challenger Jose Pacifico Ruiz. Santoro reunites with his childhood friend Kevin Dunne, a U.S. Navy Commander tasked with protecting Defense Secretary Charles Kirkland and Powell during the event.
As the match begins, Kevin is lured away by Serena, a mysterious redhead wearing a ruby ring. Julia Costello, a platinum-blonde woman in a white satin suit, takes his seat.
