**Storyline:**
William “Will” Sawyer, a former Marine and FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader, loses his left leg below the knee during a mission involving a suicide bomber. A decade later, Sawyer works as a private security consultant. Recommended by his former colleague Ben Gillespie, he is hired to assess the security of “The Pearl,” the world’s tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong, owned by Zhao Long Ji. Sawyer moves into the building’s residential floors with his wife, Sarah, and their twin children, Georgia and Henry.
After meeting with Zhao, Gillespie, security director Okeke, and insurance underwriter Pierce, Sawyer confirms that the skyscraper’s security systems are functional. However, he insists on inspecting the offsite security center. Zhao provides Sawyer with a tablet that grants him complete control over the Pearl’s systems. While heading to the offsite facility, Sawyer is ambushed by a thief hired by international terrorist Kores Botha. Gillespie, now working for Botha, betrays Sawyer and fights him for the tablet, resulting in Gillespie’s death.
Sawyer attempts to return to the Pearl but is attacked by Xia, another of Botha’s associates. Xia and her team steal the tablet and use it to disable the building’s fire-extinguishing systems, causing a devastating fire. Zhao and Okeke send guards to rescue Sawyer’s family, but the guards are killed in an explosion, leaving the family presumed dead. Meanwhile, Pierce, who is secretly working for Botha, forces an evacuation, killing everyone except Zhao, who locks himself in his penthouse for safety.
The film follows Sawyer’s relentless efforts to save his family and stop the catastrophic events unfolding in the Pearl.
