Description: The animated film *Sing* (2016) follows the story of Buster Moon, the owner of a struggling theater in a city called Calatonia, inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. Facing foreclosure from bank representative Judith, Buster decides to organize a singing competition with a prize of $1,000 to save his theater. However, his assistant Miss Crawly accidentally adds two extra zeros to the prize money on the flyers, which are scattered across the city before they can be corrected.
Attracted by the $100,000 prize, a large crowd of animals audition, and Buster selects his contestants. Among them are Rosita, a mother of 25 piglets; Ash, a punk-rock enthusiast; Johnny, the son of a mobster; Mike, a street musician; a trio of dancing frogs; and Pete, an opera-singing camel. Meena, a shy teenager, fails her audition due to stage fright, while Ash’s self-centered boyfriend Lance is dismissed from the contest.
As the competition progresses, Buster realizes the flyers advertised the wrong prize amount. With the help of his friend Eddie, Buster approaches Eddie’s wealthy grandmother, Nana Noodleman, a former singing star, to sponsor the event. After some persuasion, Nana agrees to attend a private preview before making her decision.
Meanwhile, the contestants face their own challenges. Rosita struggles with her dance routine paired with the energetic Gunter, feeling her passion has faded due to her responsibilities as a mother. Ash discovers Lance’s infidelity and breaks down during rehearsal. Meena, now working as a stagehand, overcomes her fear and is added as a replacement act. Johnny, forced to assist his father in a heist, sneaks away to rehearsals but struggles to focus.
The film portrays the contestants’ journey as they confront their fears, overcome obstacles, and ultimately come together to deliver a spectacular show. Through humor, heartwarming moments, and captivating performances, *Sing* celebrates the power of determination, teamwork, and following one’s dreams.
