Description: Sinbad: Night at High Noon and the Wonder Gate is a 2019 Japanese animated adventure film inspired by *One Thousand and One Nights*. It was produced by Nippon Animation and Shirogumi as part of a trilogy celebrating Nippon Animation’s 40th anniversary. Directed by Shinpei Miyashita and written by Kaeko Hayafune and Hiroyuki Kawasaki, the trilogy’s third film was dedicated to Miyashita, who passed away during production. The movie was completed by his student, Terumi Toyama.
The story follows Sinbad as he continues his quest to find Sana’s comrades. Along the way, Sara shares her tragic past, revealing how Galip, her father’s apprentice, used dark magic to destroy her kingdom and family. The Magic Lamp guides them to the Wonder Gate, a portal to the land of ancestors that appears during the Night at High Noon. However, Galip’s soldiers stand in their way, adding tension to their journey.
The trilogy began with *A Flying Princess and a Secret Island* (2015), followed by *The Magic Lamp and the Moving Islands* (2016), and concluded with *Night at High Noon and the Wonder Gate* (2016). The films were released theatrically in Japan and later on DVD with both Japanese audio and English subtitles. An English dub by Ocean Productions became available on Amazon Video in 2017. In 2021, an Indian kids’ channel, ETV Bal Bharat, premiered the compilation film dubbed in 12 languages, including English, Hindi, and Tamil.
