Description: Sense and Sensibility, released in 1995, is a captivating film adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel. The story begins with Mr. Dashwood on his deathbed, urging his son John to care for his second wife and their three daughters—Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret. However, due to English inheritance laws, the women are left with nothing. Despite his promise, John is swayed by his selfish and greedy wife, Fanny, who convinces him to provide no financial support. They take over the family estate, forcing the Dashwood women to seek a new home.
Fanny invites her brother, Edward Ferrars, to stay with them. The Dashwoods eventually move to a small cottage in Devonshire, offered by their cousin, Sir John Middleton. There, they meet Colonel Brandon, who is immediately drawn to Marianne. Marianne’s perspective changes when she meets the charming John Willoughby after he rescues her from an accident. They grow close, but Willoughby unexpectedly departs for London, leaving Marianne heartbroken. Meanwhile, Lucy Steele, a guest at Barton Park, reveals to Elinor that she has been secretly engaged to Edward for years. Elinor, who has fallen in love with Edward, chooses to prioritize his integrity over her own happiness, keeping her feelings hidden.
