Description: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a 2010 film that follows the story of 22-year-old Scott Pilgrim, a bassist for the struggling indie garage band Sex Bob-Omb, based in Toronto. Scott is dating Knives Chau, a 17-year-old high school student, though his friends, bandmates, roommate Wallace Wells, and younger sister Stacey Pilgrim disapprove of the relationship. Scott’s life takes a turn when he meets Ramona Flowers, an American Amazon delivery girl he first encountered in a dream. As Scott becomes infatuated with Ramona, he neglects to break up with Knives before pursuing her.
During a battle of the bands event hosted by record executive Gideon Graves, Scott is confronted by Matthew Patel, one of Ramona’s ex-boyfriends. Scott defeats Patel and learns that he must defeat Ramona’s remaining six evil exes if he wants to date her. After finally ending his relationship with Knives, Scott faces off against Ramona’s next three exes: Hollywood actor and skateboarder Lucas Lee, super-powered vegan Todd Ingram, and lesbian ninja Roxy Richter. Along the way, Scott also confronts his own ex, pop star Envy Adams.
However, Scott’s frustration grows as the challenges continue, and after a heated argument about Ramona’s past, she breaks up with him. At the next battle of the bands, Scott defeats Ramona’s fifth and sixth exes, twins Kyle and Ken Katayanagi, earning an extra life. Despite this victory, Ramona seems to reconcile with her seventh ex, Gideon. While the rest of Sex Bob-Omb accepts Gideon’s record deal, Scott quits the band in protest.
Determined to win Ramona back, Scott challenges Gideon at the Chaos Theater, where Sex Bob-Omb is performing. During the intense battle, Scott gains the “Power of Love” sword, but Knives interrupts by attacking Ramona. Scott confesses to cheating on both women, leading to his death at Gideon’s hands. In limbo, Ramona reveals to Scott that Gideon has implanted her with a mind control device.
