Description: After Mystery, Inc. solves the mystery of the Luna Ghost at a factory, tensions rise within the group. Fred, who often takes credit for others’ ideas, causes friction with Daphne, who is tired of always being the one captured, and Velma, whose plans Fred frequently claims as his own. This leads to the disbandment of the gang, leaving Scooby and Shaggy on their own. Two years later, they are all invited to investigate a mystery at Spooky Island, a horror-themed tropical resort. The owner, Emile Mondavarious, believes that the visiting tourists are being brainwashed. While Shaggy and Scooby hope this mission will reunite the group, Fred, Daphne, and Velma are determined to solve the mystery independently.
Velma attends a ritual performance by actor N’Goo Tuana and his henchman, the famous luchador Zarkos. N’Goo reveals that ancient demons once ruled the island and have been plotting revenge since the resort displaced them. Meanwhile, Shaggy develops feelings for a girl named Mary Jane, which creates distance between him and Scooby.
The gang is led to the resort’s haunted house ride, where Fred and Velma discover a classroom teaching inhuman creatures about human culture. Daphne finds a pyramid-shaped artifact called the Daemon Ritus. Soon after, Fred, Velma, and Mondavarious are kidnapped and possessed by the island’s demons. Mary Jane calls the Coast Guard for help, but they don’t arrive. Zarkos steals the Daemon Ritus from Daphne, who is also captured and possessed.
The next day, Scooby tries to warn Shaggy that Mary Jane is a demon in disguise but fails and goes missing. Shaggy searches for his friends and finds a vat of protoplasm containing the souls of the possessed. He frees Daphne, Fred, and Velma, who learn that sunlight can destroy the demons. A voodoo priest on the island informs the gang about the demons’ “Darpokalypse” Ritual, which will allow them to rule the world for ten thousand years if a pure soul is sacrificed in the Daemon Ritus. The gang realizes Scooby is the pure soul Mondavarious brought to Spooky Island for this purpose.
