**Storyline:**
In 1980, Tony Montana, a Cuban refugee and former convict, arrives in Miami, Florida, as part of the Mariel boatlift. Alongside his friends Manny Ray, Angel, and Chi Chi, he is sent to a refugee camp. The group is eventually released and granted green cards in exchange for assassinating a former Cuban general at the request of Miami drug lord Frank Lopez. Starting as dishwashers at a local eatery, Tony aspires for greater success, believing he is destined for more.
Frank’s associate, Omar, sends the group to purchase cocaine from Colombian dealers, but the deal turns violent. Angel is brutally killed with a chainsaw, while Manny and Chi Chi save Tony and eliminate the Colombians. Suspecting Omar of setting them up, Tony and Manny personally deliver the recovered drugs and money to Frank. During this meeting, Tony becomes infatuated with Frank’s wife, Elvira. Frank hires Tony and Manny, and Tony reunites with his mother and younger sister Gina, whom he fiercely protects. Disgusted by Tony’s criminal lifestyle, his mother forces him to leave. Meanwhile, Manny develops feelings for Gina, but Tony warns him to stay away.
Frank sends Tony and Omar to Cochabamba, Bolivia, to meet with Alejandro Sosa, a powerful cocaine producer. Tony negotiates a deal without Frank’s approval, angering Omar. Sosa reveals Omar is a police informant and criticizes Frank’s judgment. Tony witnesses Omar’s brutal execution and convinces Sosa to proceed with the deal while vowing never to betray him.
Back in Miami, Frank is enraged by Omar’s death and Tony’s independent deal. Tony begins his own cocaine operation and faces extortion attempts from Bernstein, a corrupt police detective on Frank’s payroll.
