**Storyline:**
Saraswati, known as Saru, is a traditional young librarian who faces constant rejection from suitors who find her old-fashioned and unappealing. Her younger sister Kaveri’s fiancé demands that Saru marry within a month, or he will move on. Their strict father, Jayram, insists that Kaveri’s wedding cannot happen until Saru is married first. Frustrated, Kaveri insults Saru and threatens to elope. Saru pleads with her sister to avoid hurting their father and promises to find a husband soon.
Meanwhile, Inder Lal Parihaar, a handsome ex-convict, lives in the same building with his stylish girlfriend, Ruby Malhotra, a renowned fashion stylist. Jayram disapproves of them, considering their lifestyle a bad influence. After their breakup, Saru secretly approaches Inder for help in getting a makeover from Ruby, hoping to impress her office crush, Abhimanyu, an IIT graduate. During their conversation, a drunken Ruby misunderstands the situation, accuses Inder of cheating, and throws a wine bottle at Saru. Inder shields Saru and gets injured.
As Saru helps Inder tend to his wounds, the building’s watchman misinterprets the scene and informs the elders, including Jayram, who disowns Saru upon finding her in Inder’s apartment. Saru tells her mother the truth but asks her not to reveal it to her father, fearing it might disrupt Kaveri’s wedding plans. Inder later helps Saru find an apartment and assists in her transformation. With her new look, Saru successfully captures Abhimanyu’s attention.
