Description: Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is a 2023 Indian Telugu-language epic action drama film directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur. The film features Prabhas in the lead role, supported by an impressive cast that includes Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Tinnu Anand, Easwari Rao, Sriya Reddy, and Ramachandra Raju. The story draws inspiration from Neel’s debut Kannada film, Ugramm.
The project was announced in December 2020, with principal photography beginning in January 2021 in Telangana, followed by additional filming in Hyderabad. The production concluded by early December 2023. The film boasts a musical score by Ravi Basrur, cinematography by Bhuvan Gowda, and editing by Ujwal Kulkarni.
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire premiered worldwide on December 22, 2023, in both standard and IMAX formats. A sequel, titled Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryanga Parvam, is currently in development.
Set in the city of Khansaar, the narrative follows Raja Mannar, who intends for his son Vardharaja Mannar to succeed him. However, a conspiracy emerges among Raja Mannar’s ministers and advisors, who plot to assassinate them by hiring foreign armies from Russia and Serbia. Vardharaja escapes and reconnects with his childhood friend Deva, who is determined to help him become the unchallenged heir to Khansaar.
In August 2020, it was reported that Prabhas approached Prashanth Neel to direct their next project after seeing Ugramm. Production was originally slated to start in 2022, delayed due to other commitments from both Prabhas and Neel. By December 2, Hombale Films officially announced their collaboration on Salaar.
