However, “Safety” goes a step further by including a detailed clip from the story that inspired the film. This Disney+ production, directed by Reginald Hudlin, follows Ray-Ray McElrathbey (portrayed by Jay Reeves), who managed to raise his 11-year-old brother Fahmarr (played by Thaddeus J. Mixson) while balancing his psychology studies and the demands of being a scholarship football player in 2006. The movie often feels as though it’s adapting not just the true events but also the way they were presented in media coverage, like an episode of “Oprah.”
