Description: Sachein, a carefree and cheerful young man, enrolls in a college in Ooty and instantly falls for Shalini upon his first sight of her. Shalini, who studies at the same college, is known as a popular and beautiful student. However, she is also short-tempered and arrogant, coming from an upper-middle-class background. Sachein gathers all this information about her from Arnold, also known as Ayyasamy, a student who has been studying at the college for nearly nine years. Arnold believes that students should respect their professors and warns Sachein that many boys are trying to impress Shalini.
Instead of trying to win her over directly, Sachein takes a different approach by teasing and mocking Shalini, which irritates her. Over time, they become good friends after Sachein saves her father in a bike accident. Meanwhile, Santhanam, another student at the college, also harbors feelings for Shalini. Jealous of the friendship between Sachein and Shalini, Santhanam plots to drive them apart. He writes on one of the college walls that Sachein loves Shalini, which angers Shalini, as she mistakenly believes Sachein is responsible.
When Shalini confronts Sachein, he explains that he is straightforward and would never write something like that to express his feelings. Shalini realizes her mistake, but Sachein surprises her by admitting that, although he did not write the message, the sentiment is true—he is in love with her. This confession upsets Shalini, and she angrily tells him she sees him only as a friend. Later, Shalini overhears Sachein challenging Santhanam, claiming that Shalini will confess her love within the next thirty days before their college years end. Shalini, determined to prove him wrong, challenges Sachein, declaring she will never fall in love with him.
