Storyline:
Sawyer Scott, a senior at Centre College, is offered a job interview in Washington, DC. Concerned she might not secure the position, Sawyer decides to skip Thanksgiving with her family and travels to the interview without informing anyone. After encountering heavy holiday traffic on I-64, she takes an alternate route, only to find it partially blocked. Venturing deeper into the Appalachian forest, Sawyer eventually turns back. However, she is spotted by brothers Hollister and Buck, who are burying a body.
Fearing Sawyer might have witnessed their crime, the brothers follow her and find her studying a paper map. Initially offering assistance, they turn hostile when Sawyer declines their invitation to dinner. A struggle ensues, leaving both Buck and Sawyer wounded. The brothers pursue her into the woods but retreat as night falls. Lost, injured, and disoriented, Sawyer spends the night in a ravine.
When Sheriff O’Doyle receives a report of an abandoned vehicle, he questions Hollister and Buck, known local troublemakers. The brothers deny any involvement in Sawyer’s disappearance. Later, they return to her car and dispose of it in the woods, continuing their search for her. Sawyer eventually stumbles upon the wreckage of her car and finds her cell phone, but it has a dying battery and no signal.
Weakened by hunger, dehydration, and blood loss, Sawyer collapses near a dumping ground in the forest. She is discovered by Lowell, a meth cook and cousin to Hollister and Buck. Lowell tends to Sawyer’s wounded leg and provides her with food and water. However, he ties her up after she attempts to escape by throwing lye in his face. When Hollister and Buck arrive to discuss Lowell’s meth production, they grow suspicious when he prevents them from entering.
