Description: Rorschach is a 2022 Indian Malayalam neo-noir psychological action thriller directed by Nissam Basheer and produced by Mammootty under Mammootty Kampany. The film features Mammootty, Sharafudheen, Jagadish, Grace Antony, Bindu Panicker, Kottayam Nazeer, Sanju Sivram, and Asif Ali. Music for the film was composed by Midhun Mukundan, and Nimish Ravi handled the cinematography. Principal photography commenced on 30 March 2022 in Chalakudy, and the film was released on 7 October 2022. It received acclaim for its cast performances, direction, storytelling, cinematography, music, action sequences, and technical aspects.
The story follows Luke Anthony, an NRI businessman from Dubai, who travels to Kerala with his pregnant wife, Sofia, for a vacation. While driving through a forest, Luke is involved in a road accident and loses consciousness. Upon waking, he discovers Sofia is missing and reports her disappearance to the local police. Authorities conclude she was killed in a tiger attack and close the case. Determined to find her, Luke takes matters into his own hands.
Luke encounters Balan, who convinces him to buy a house on the outskirts of the forest since officials prohibit him from living there. Balan reveals the house belonged to his late son, Dileep Balan, who died in an accident months earlier. After purchasing the property and paying Balan, Luke is left alone as Balan departs with the money, abandoning his wife, Seetha Balan, and younger son, Anil Balan. Soon after, Balan is found brutally murdered, and the money goes missing. When questioned by the police, Seetha and Anil deny any knowledge of the house sale or the money.
As Luke settles into the house, he begins to sense the presence of Dileep and suspects that Dileep is alive and Sofia has been murdered. He approaches Balan’s brother-in-law, Shashankan, proposing an investigation into Balan’s murder and the missing money. However, Shashankan refuses, later revealing he himself stole the money. That night, Shashankan’s storeroom is set on fire, and the money disappears from the locker. It is later revealed that Luke orchestrated the fire and retrieved the stolen money.
