Description: In the world of advanced technology, the tech giant Bubble introduces its newest invention: the B-bot. Designed by the kind-hearted CEO Marc Weidell, this robotic companion aims to help children make friends and connect to the internet through a unique friendship algorithm installed in every B-bot. In the town of Nonsuch, Barney Pudowski stands out as the only middle schooler without a B-bot. His old friends, Savannah Meades, Rich Belcher, Noah, and Ava, are all deeply engrossed in their own B-bots.
Barney’s father, Graham, who sells quirky items online, and his grandmother Donka, notice Barney’s loneliness. They feel for him, especially after Rich plays a mean trick on Barney. Desperate to help, they rush to a Bubble store, only to find it closed. Luckily, a delivery driver who had found a slightly damaged B-bot offers it to them.
Barney receives the B-bot as a belated birthday gift, but soon discovers it’s faulty and glitchy. Not wanting to upset his father, he plans to return it to the Bubble store for repairs. Along the way, he encounters Rich and his friends, who mock and try to embarrass him. However, the B-bot, with its safety features disabled, fights back. Barney and the B-bot bond over the incident and escape together.
Unfortunately, Rich alerts the police, and Barney, along with Graham and Donka, is taken to the Bubble store, where the B-bot is set to be destroyed. Unable to let go, Barney secretly rescues the B-bot and names him Ron, a shortened version of its model number.
When news of Barney and Ron’s escapades spreads, Marc is intrigued by Ron’s deviation from his programming. However, his COO, Andrew Morris, sees it as a PR disaster and insists Ron must be destroyed to resolve the issue.
