Miraculously, he travels to London (despite the unclear logistics of money, passport, and visa) to pursue her. Surprisingly, instead of reporting him as a stalker, she falls in love with him! How do you rate a film where the lead actors’ performances make you appreciate even the most criticized actors in Bollywood? This is filmmaker Ashok Pati’s latest chaotic creation, *Romeo vs Juliet*. Shakespeare might just be rolling in his grave.
The fact that half of the film is shot in London’s picturesque locations does little to salvage the story. Kharaj Mukherjee, a talented actor, tries his best to bring humor to the film, offering a few moments of relief for the bored audience. However, even the flashing disco lights during song sequences fail to make the film entertaining.
After enduring two and a half hours of absurdity, featuring a lead actor who makes a fool of himself and a Bangladeshi heroine whose presence is more felt in a song than on screen, this reviewer has one piece of advice for the director: avoid poorly imitating iconic scenes like the suicide sequence from *Sholay* in a film that lacks both logic and storytelling. It might just push the already frustrated audience over the edge.
