Description: In 1981, five years after his victory against Apollo Creed to claim the world heavyweight championship, Rocky Balboa has successfully defended his title ten times. His fame, wealth, endorsements, and celebrity status have grown significantly, leading him to participate in a charity exhibition match against Thunderlips, the world heavyweight wrestling champion.
However, Rocky’s manager, Mickey, becomes concerned about a young and formidable contender, James “Clubber” Lang, who is rapidly rising through the ranks. During a ceremony unveiling a statue of Rocky at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Lang publicly challenges Rocky, accusing him of avoiding tough opponents. Lang provokes Rocky into accepting a championship fight.
Mickey is hesitant, fearing for Rocky’s safety. He confesses that he has been selecting Rocky’s opponents to protect him from the kind of beating he endured in his rematch with Creed. Mickey warns that Lang is young, powerful, and determined, while Rocky has lost his hunger since becoming champion. Despite this, Rocky convinces Mickey to train him for one final fight.
Rocky’s training, however, is plagued by distractions and lack of focus, while Lang trains with intense discipline and aggression. The two face off at Philadelphia’s Spectrum. Backstage chaos ensues as Lang shoves Mickey, causing him to suffer a heart attack. Rocky is devastated and wants to cancel the match, but Mickey insists he continues.
The fight begins with Rocky landing powerful blows, but his poor conditioning prevents him from securing an early victory.
