Description: Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) is an epic adventure film set in 12th-century England during the Third Crusade. While King Richard the Lionheart is away in France, the tyrannical Sheriff of Nottingham, aided by his ruthless cousin Guy of Gisbourne, his witch foster mother Mortianna, and a corrupt bishop, seizes control of the land. The story follows Robin of Locksley, a young nobleman imprisoned in Jerusalem for five years, who escapes alongside his comrade, Peter Dubois. During their flight, they save the life of a Moor named Azeem.
After Peter sacrifices himself to ensure Robin’s escape, Robin returns to England with Azeem, who swears to stay by his side until he repays his life-debt. Upon arriving home, Robin discovers his father’s corpse in their ruined castle, killed for refusing to join the Sheriff’s forces. A loyal blind servant, Duncan, reveals the false accusations against Robin’s father. Meanwhile, Mortianna warns the Sheriff of Robin and Azeem’s threat, predicting their eventual downfall.
Robin reunites with Marian, Peter’s sister, and pledges to protect her, though she is fiercely independent and committed to helping her people. After evading the Sheriff’s men, Robin and Azeem join a group of outlaws in Sherwood Forest, led by Little John. Among them is Will Scarlet, who harbors resentment toward Robin. Robin transforms the outlaws into a skilled band of rebels who rob the wealthy to aid the poor. Friar Tuck also joins their cause, and Robin and Marian grow closer, developing feelings for each other.
The film is a thrilling tale of rebellion, justice, and romance as Robin Hood and his allies challenge the Sheriff’s oppressive rule and fight for the liberation of the people.
