Description: Joel Goodson, a high-achieving high school student, lives with his wealthy parents in Glencoe, a Chicago North Shore suburb. His father, who attended Princeton University, expects Joel to follow in his footsteps. To build his future, Joel participates in Future Enterprisers, an extracurricular program where students develop small business projects.
When Joel’s parents leave for a trip, his friend Miles convinces him to seize the opportunity and enjoy his newfound freedom. On the first night, Joel indulges in his father’s liquor, blasts music, takes his father’s car for a joyride, and famously dances in his underwear to “Old Time Rock and Roll.” The next day, Miles arranges for Joel to contact a prostitute named Jackie, who turns out to be transgender. Joel pays her to leave, and she gives him the number of another prostitute, Lana.
Joel hesitates but eventually contacts Lana, a stunning blonde, and they spend the night together. In the morning, Lana demands $300 for her services. Joel goes to the bank to withdraw the money, but upon returning, he discovers Lana is gone—and so is his mother’s expensive Steuben glass egg. Joel tracks down Lana to retrieve the egg, but her pimp, Guido, intervenes, threatening Joel with a gun.
During a high-speed chase in his father’s Porsche 928, Joel narrowly escapes Guido. Lana informs Joel that the egg is at Guido’s place. Joel allows Lana to stay at his house while he attends school, but upon his return, he finds his friends have arrived, and Lana has invited another prostitute, Vicki, to join them. Joel rejects the idea, but the women leave only to encounter Guido on the front lawn. A confrontation ensues, and the women retreat back into the house. Joel agrees to let them stay for one more night.
Later, Joel, Lana, Vicki, and Joel’s friend Barry go out and smoke marijuana. While retrieving her purse, Lana accidentally shifts the Porsche out of gear, causing it to roll down a hill and onto a pier. Despite Joel’s frantic efforts to stop it, the pier collapses, and the Porsche sinks into Lake Michigan.
