Description: At the dawn of the 21st century, workers in the London Underground accidentally awaken a massive dragon from hibernation. The creature kills most of the workers, leaving only a young boy, Quinn Abercromby, as the sole survivor. His mother, Karen, dies while protecting him. The dragon escapes, and soon, more dragons emerge. Decades later, an adult Quinn documents the events following the first dragon sighting. Scientists uncover that dragons were responsible for the extinction of dinosaurs and much of Earth’s plant life through widespread fire. After this destruction, the dragons vanished, likely entering a hibernation cycle. Their return leads to a rapid population increase, prompting militaries to use nuclear weapons in 2010. This catastrophic decision accelerates humanity’s downfall, and by 2020, humans are nearly extinct. The dragons, now starving, become increasingly aggressive in their search for food.
Quinn, alongside his close friend Creedy, leads a group of survivors at Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland. Their plan is to outlast the dragons until they hibernate again. Quinn prepares Jared, an orphan he rescued, to take over leadership if needed. However, the community faces shortages and unrest as they await the harvest of their limited crops. When Eddie and his group attempt to steal the crops early, they are attacked by a dragon. Quinn and his team manage to rescue them, but the dragon kills Eddie’s son and destroys most of the crops, leaving the community without food.
